About Us

Who Are We?

Brisinga Jewellery was set up in 2005 by myself, Sarah Pickles,  as a part time venture to sell the jewellery I had been making as a hobby for a few years.

Like a lot of people, my first efforts in jewellery making was beading and although I still do a little, I quickly branched off into silversmithing which opened up whole new possibilities and avenues to explore. Brisinga remains a side venture for the time being but not having to make a living from it means I can keep prices as reasonable as possible.

I take a lot of my inspiration from nature, especially trees, but also from paganism and ancient norse mythologies and each and every product for sale on this site is designed and handmade by me alone. Bindrune symbols for sale are designed  by my husband, a Heathen and runemaster.

I'm open to approaches regarding commissions and have in the past created special unique items such as wedding rings, bridesmaid's necklaces, wands, hair vines and devotional items. If you would like to discuss commissioning your own piece of jewellery, you can get in touch via the 'Contact Us' page or by emailing directly to enquiries@brisinga.co.uk

What Does Brisinga Mean?

It's taken from The Brisingamen, the fabled necklace of Norse mythology.  This necklace was the creation of the dwarves and so beautiful that the Goddess of love, Freya, gave herself to the dwarves simply to own it. It's attraction was so great that it was stolen from her by both the Allfather, Odin, who forced her to bring war to peaceful nations in order to recover it, and later Trickster God Loki although this time it was retrieved for her by her friend Heimdall.
